Weight issues continue to be an issue among us all, this ongoing obsession with weight continues to plague us all. It defines how we are seen by others in society. The assumptions that curvy women are seen as lazy, tired, etc. and that slim women are vain and selfish just confirms that society judges us all. An overwhelming amount of us have a stereotypical view of beauty, if you are a slim woman you are successful and accomplished. If you are overweight you make less money and will have less of a chance at opportunities.

With the successful launch of many plus size brands we are engaging our curvy customer to be equally in the ranks of high fashion models. However, aren’t we still battling even within the plus size industry with models being turned down if they are over a size 18. Plus size fashion is growing in leaps and bounds, with more opportunities arising for many that would have not had a chance to walk through the door of a high profile agency.
As a retailer in the industry for women of all sizes, we see first hand the ongoing battle that women have with body issue and the constant scrutiny. Are we too thin or too heavy, are we accepted or are we turned away? Only society can make a difference in perception but educating industry and global pursuits to change the overall perception. Keep fighting to balance out our playing fields, so that size is no longer an issue but empowering to all women.
